The Time is Always Right

“The Time Is Always Right, To Do What Is Right.” (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)

Have you ever had to suffer a wounded reputation because someone you were associated with did something less than honorable? That then compounded itself into their past debts being assigned to you for resolution!

In my case, it was someone that I had looked up to and held in high esteem because of what they represented. It turned out that their character did not measure up to the standards of common decency one might reasonably expect from someone in their position.

It takes a lot of humility to accept that it's okay for you to suffer for the transgressions of someone else because you were sincerely trying to be of service to them, and they let you down. Isn't that exactly what Jesus did for us?

The question for us as Christians is, which do we place more value in? Protecting our reputation, or  continuing to do the right thing, even if it puts us at the risk of being betrayed.

For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. (1 Peter 2:19-20)

I pray that the way we live never damages the reputation of the Cause of Christ that we represent.
