Your Spiritual Journey
I am amazed by the amount of creativity I see in the world. This includes many from our family here in Centerville. We have some great artists in the youth group who have drawn some really cool things. And I’ve seen images from VBS’ in the past that look really cool. All throughout the world people are creating things that are beautiful from paintings to stories to buildings to whatever else it might be. We are capable of creating some truly amazing things.
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, since we are made in the image of the creator of the universe. The work of God’s hands truly is amazing. Many of us have traveled to places like the Grand Canyon, the Rocky Mountains, or other amazing places. But regardless of where you are you can see the creativity of God in His creation. But it wasn’t a mountain, or a flower, or an ocean that God set apart as His special creation.
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:26-27
People are really good at being mean. At mistreating others. At some point people are going to tell us that we are not good enough. That we need to be bigger, stronger, faster, or smarter.
But we can know that these things are lies, because we are made in the image of God. God made each of us, chose each of us, and loved each of us enough to send Jesus to save us. Our value does not come from what others say or think about us. Our value comes from God who created us in His image, and gave up His Son for us. Regardless of how things are going, or how we are feeling about ourselves, we can remember that we have value and worth. We are God’s special creation, created in His image.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” Psalm 8:3-4
