For the Win
Every year March Madness grabs our attention, and take us on a wild ride because on any given night, just about anything can happen. There is nothing more compelling to watch than some Cinderella team playing way beyond their potential. The ultimate thrill is for them to win the game on a Buzzer Beater where the time expires between the ball leaving the player's hand from some impossible distance, and the swishing sound of nothing but the net. Then the awestruck crowd erupts in cheers. It just takes your breath away.
There's something about watching a demonstration of perfection that gets us energized like nothing else. But stop and think for a minute. Would it be the same if we didn't understand the rules of the game? What if we knew nothing about the two teams that were playing and their record of wins and losses? How about watching these same events unfold sitting alone at home with the sound turned off? Without the excitement of being with other people that know what's going on and the importance of what just happened it would have almost no impact on us.
Which brings me to my point. Worship is no different. We need to learn and understand the context of what's going on, and we don't get much out of it sitting alone at home with the sound turned off!
God has demonstrated an amazing display of perfection for us, and delivered the victory. I pray that our Worship together will always Praise Him, be Thankful, and Express our Love and Excitement for the Win, with more passion and energy than March Madness.
