Living and Active Word of God

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.”  Hebrews 1:1-3

The kids have been studying the books of Hebrews and James for this year’s Bible bowl competition. And they did an amazing job! Many of our kids won mvp awards, and we had teams take 1st and 2nd place overall.  I appreciate this event because I believe that any time we spend devoted to the study of God’s Word is a blessing. The Bible bowl event also has the added benefits of times of praise, worship, and fellowship.

God has revealed Himself to us in His Word. It is amazing that we have been given access to learn more about the God who created the universe, and that He desires a relationship with us. If we want to learn about God, we can look to Jesus who is the exact stamp of God’s nature.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”  Hebrews 4:12

God’s Word is living and active. It is full of important lessons and applications for each of us. Whatever our situation may be, there is something in the Bible that speaks to us. There is something that will provide encouragement, wisdom, or instruction. If we choose to neglect God’s Word then we are missing out on so much.
