Things Change

“Things change and often will so be ye flexible!”

That’s a saying I’ve heard (and used) hundreds of times both in my personal life and in my professional life.  Flights cancel, appointments change, seasons come and go, relationships, health, finances, jobs, kids, marriages, even you and me…. all things change and so we adjust and adapt.  Period!

This week, I was touched by a devotional thought that reminded me that God never changes!  PERIOD!

Malachi 3:5-6; God says, I will come to you for judgement and be quick to testify against your enemies (paraphrased).  Vs 6, “I the Lord do not change!”

No if’s, ands, buts about it!  We serve a God who will not change.  A God who is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow.  A God who came to Israel’s rescue for them to honor the Lord THEIR God and put their hope and trust in His unfailing resources.  A God who created the heavens and the earth.  A God who created you and me and gave us all we have to serve Him. And after He created US, He looked at that creation and not only said “it was good”, He looked at us and said …”IT WAS VERY GOOD! “(Genesis 1:31).

What we discover in study, fellowship, and by faith is a steadfast God who through time and into eternity is faithful to His Word… a patient God who is long-suffering and of great goodness. An immutable God who is unchanging and unchangeable and a God who will never go back on His word - either the earthly promises which He gave to the nation of Israel or the many precious promises, which by grace through faith in Christ, He has given to us - to  the Church - which is His Body.

May we lift up our hearts and our voices in praise and thanksgiving that He is the unchanging and unchangeable God who is faithful and true, of great mercy and who changes not. We praise Him that He “loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosever believes in HIM will not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).
