Bullhorn Preacher
Bullhorn Preacher
I saw someone after the parade ended yesterday that I hadn't seen in six years, the local Bullhorn Preacher. He was being just as ineffective as he was the last time I heard him.
Unlike the rest of the crowd that was giving him a wide path, I stood my ground to see if he was going to make any attempt to engage with someone that seemed to be paying him some attention. He glided past as if I was was irrelevant to what he was there to do. And what was that, Save Souls? No, for a few yards beyond where I was standing someone told him to go away because he was being inappropriate for the spirit of the event.
Then his true purpose came out. The string of invectives that poured forth at 110dB was blistering. Ouch! I now wonder if I had pretended to be a sinner actively seeking his help to repent, could I have saved that poor soul from suffering under his amplified wrath? Would an extended conversation with this modern day Jonah have prevented him from continuing on his misguided mission through the crowd? Probably not.
Unfortunately, people like this make our duty to share the Gospel more difficult. I pray that we can overcome the World with a steady stream of Love from Pure and Sincere Hearts that serve the Lord more effectively than simply shouting at people we seem to hate.
