Victors and Captives
Our small group last week discussed how we could be both Victors over the sin and death of this world and Captives of Christ at the same time. It turns out that it just comes down to whose perspective you're taking.
The news has been filled this week with examples of clashing perspectives. Unfortunately there seems to be little opportunity for resolution of these differences among us. And yet, we've been shown the way.
Our ability to be in two states at once, without contradiction, comes from above, and not of this world. If he can hate the sin, and still love the sinner, then we can as well. We can hate the violence, and still love people on both sides of a seemingly irreconcilable disagreement without having that hate consume us.
I pray the we can be the Christians that God put in this place and time to show people trapped in their own perspective, a better way. Pray for them, that their hearts may be opened to seeing things in a new and better way that brings life.
