Here We Are Again!
You may have noticed a little uptick in your inbox from the Centerville Church of Christ. As Andy explained on Sunday, the elders are resuming our weekly devotionals. We took a break for a while, but thankfully James Passmore and Houston kept the ball rolling. Now that there are five elders, you’re going to be getting a larger number of devotionals all at no extra charge!
We view these devotionals as important for us to fulfill several of our functions. An elder should teach (1 Timothy 5:17) and give instruction in sound doctrine (Titus 1:9) among other tasks. We pray that through these devotionals we are better performing at least a part of our function. I hope you find them of value.
But I want to point out that we aren’t the only one with functions to perform in the body. Paul explains to us in 1 Corinthians 12 that every member of the church has a function to fulfill, and the church suffers if members don’t do their part. We are all indispensable in the work of the church. So do you know what your function is? If so, get involved and contribute! If you need help in finding that function, please talk to us—we want to see all our members contributing toward the well-being of the Centerville Church of Christ. It’s critical for a healthy church.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6 Now there are a variety of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are a variety of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.
