Are ya ready for some football?! Or are you a basketball person? What about hockey? And don’t forget about post-season baseball. This time of year, millions of people in America are focused on sports – both college and pro. As a matter of fact, fantasy football players spend almost 7 hours per week tweaking their team, researching stats and trying to find the right combination of players that are gonna get them the most points. Also, the average American watches about 1.3 hours of sports each week, and 1 in 4 Americans watches 5 or more hours of sports weekly.

Sports can be a great way to connect with and spend time with friends and family. There are a lot of emotions that accompany sports; the excitement of big plays, the drama of close games, the disappointment of losing a game, the frustration of getting the wrong line-up for your fantasy team. But, at the end of the day, what do you really get out of watching a game? Are there any tangible benefits?

Compare that to God’s Word. The Bible is more than just stories; it’s a guidebook for life. It teaches us where we came from and why we’re here. It instructs us how to live a fulfilled life while on Earth. It offers hope and comfort when this life does become challenging. And it ultimately describes how to acquire our eternal reward in Heaven.

How much time do you spend watching sports versus being in God’s Word? Is it time to re-evaluate your priorities? The Bible is there for you… when you’re ready.
