Chosen Priests
Chosen Priests
“Why then do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When He had severely dealt with them, did they not allow the people to go, and they departed?” 1 Samuel 6:6
These were words spoken by the Philistines. They had taken the Ark of the LORD. These words were spoken as they were considering returning it to the Israelites.
This reveals something that is important: the plagues that God sent to Egypt made a lasting impression on the surrounding nations. They saw what God did to bring His people out of captivity. The Israelites were tasked with being priests, showing the other nations who God is and what it means to serve Him.
This is a responsibility that we have as Christians as well. To live our lives in a way that points others to God. Telling others about who God is and about all of the good things that He does in our lives.
The ability to have a relationship with God is the greatest gift we have been given. It is a blessing that we get to share it with those around us.
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called out of the darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9
