With a Great Gift…
One of the bestselling super hero characters of all time is Spider-Man. And the most famous line from Spider-Man is so well known that even people who aren’t super hero fans have probably heard it. The line comes from his uncle Ben and goes like this: “With great power comes great responsibility.”
Now for Spider-Man this goes along with him having super powers, and having a responsibility to use them to help those who don’t. But I think that a similar phrase could be used to describe our circumstances as Christians.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8
We don’t have super powers, but we have been given an incredible gift. We have been given the gift of eternal life with God through Jesus Christ. We have received love, grace, peace, mercy, and ultimately an abundant life with God.
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
We have been given a great gift, and with that great gift we have a responsibility. A responsibility to be an ambassador for Christ. Sharing our faith with those around us and telling them about what God has done in our lives.
Representing Christ also means that our actions reflect Him. We have a responsibility to do more than use our words. We are called to represent Jesus by being kind, loving others, and going out of our way to help others.
Let’s all remember to keep our eyes open for opportunities to share our gift with the world.
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
