Your Spiritual Journey
Longest Day
Today is officially the longest day of the year! With the sun rising at 6:09 am and setting at 9:07 pm we get 15 hours of full sunlight (not to mention the lingering light before and after). Because of this, many people have circled today on their calendars thinking it a perfect day to go to the lake, go camping, or anything else that would take full advantage of the extra sunlight. Honestly, I wish we were this proactive with our entire lives! Regardless of what stage of life you’re in, we should see every lasting hour as another opportunity to live out our faith and do God’s will on Earth. From the Sunrise of life to the sunset we’re given a long journey to do as much as we can for the Kingdom of God. I pray that we would not waste one moment, but instead take advantage of every new morning. It reminds me of the old hymn: “Life’s evening sun is sinking low, a few more days and I must go, to meet the deeds that I have done, where there will be no setting sun.” Fill this longest day with faith, hope, and love.
Blessings,
Houston
