Encourage Others
“Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.” “We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11; 14
I own many different Bibles. I have Bibles in different translations, languages, and sizes. The other day I opened one of these Bibles that I hadn’t used in a while, and a few things fell out. They were index cards with short, encouraging notes that I had received from people at a church camp the previous year.
Reading through those notes put a smile on my face and served as a reminder that I was appreciated there. I think it is really cool that something as simple as an encouraging note on an index card can have a profound impact on a person.
We don’t always know what a person is going through. And if they are feeling down, then something as simple as a short message from another person can change the course of their day. And maybe once someone is encouraged they will go onto do something nice for someone else. And a simple act of kindness can be passed on from one person to another to another and so on.
Ask someone how they are doing, surprise them with a favor, write an encouraging note, or find another way to lift someone up. These are things that each of us can do to try and encourage someone today. We never know how much someone needs it.
“But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called ‘Today,’ so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:13
