Your Spiritual Journey
Sharing Our Faith
What kind of things do you associate with the Super Bowl? Football? Friends? Good food? One of the main reasons people tune into the Super Bowl besides the sport itself is the commercials. Every year companies pour in a ludicrous amount of money to create over-the-top commercials hoping to catch the eyes of millions of viewers. Those with deeper pockets will even pay the athletes to mention them in their postgame speeches. Industries know that advertising works, and they’ll sacrifice a lot just to get in your brain.
It makes me wonder, how hard do we work to show Christ to the world around us? Do we feel the same kind of urgency to put God before people? Sadly, I feel like we’re much more likely to share with people our favorite TV shows and bands than we are to share about our source of life and happiness. In fact, we often feel tempted to go out of our way to not share about our faith because we’re afraid of how it will make us look! But if we truly believe that God is the creator of all who longs to love and bless each of us, how could we not be driven to share that with people?
I hope our lives could become a walking advertisement for God. Not by being weird and so intense that it scares people away, but that we would live upright lives and that through our faithful journey we will find regular opportunities to directly share the Gospel with a world looking for truth.
“Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” 1 Peter 2:12
